The Components Of Aerobic Power - 3835 Words

Exercise in general has been known to reep many benefits in health of the body, for example the seven components of fitness as mentioned in ‘ABC of sports and exercise medicine, third edition by Sir Roger Bannister’. (Edited by Gregory P Whyte) These components include aerobic power, which can be typically described as VO2 max, this is the maximal amount of oxygen the body can take in and use efficiently. The amount of oxygen taken in can be influenced greatly by the cardiovascular systems ability to deliver oxygenated blood to exercising muscles, the lungs ability to oxygenate the blood and the muscles ability to use the oxygen and extract it for sustained contractions. Disease and inactivity therefore can impair or inhibit these factors consequently reducing a persons ability to function. The second component is the metabolic function in the body, which can be used to control blood sugar levels. During exercise this can be tested by the ability to deal with changes in muscle and blood PH, the more active someone is leads to higher endurance to metabolites and therefore less muscle fatigue. This component can also be linked in with the third component of muscular endurance, with age this factor is often limited by lack of muscular strength due to shorter bouts of exercise being performed. The fourth component of fitness involves coordination and balance, which is highly important for bone structure and being aware of the positions of joints. The fifth component includesShow MoreRelatedPower Power is the time rate at which work is done or energy is transferred (Jones, no date).1400 Words   |  6 Pages Power Power is the time rate at which work is done or energy is transferred (Jones, no date). Hence, power is a mixture of both force and velocity (power= force x velocity). Power is an essential component of soccer. Players need to be able to move swiftly while applying a great force on the muscles they are using. This combination of both speed and strength can give footballers a massive advantage on the pitch. However, there are some players that may need to possess a greater amount of power thanRead MoreHealth Related Fitness Essay579 Words   |  3 Pagesfitness relates to those components of health status. Each system plays a vital role during game play. Every muscle in your body requires energy to perform all movements, and to do this, the energy is produced by the breakdown of a molecule called adenosine triphosphate (ATP). ATP is found in all cells which is a chemical form of muscular activity and performs mostly all functions inRead MoreAerobic Training Strategies Are Used For Training806 Words   |  4 PagesFigure skating requires the athletes to use precise and nearly perfected executed moves during a routine.
